Shanxi Hukou Waterfall Hotel WiFi Coverage Case

Project Background
As a national scenic area, national 4A-level tourist attraction, and national geopark, Hukou Waterfall is a core landmark of the Yellow River cultural tourism. As the key supporting hotel of the scenic area, Hukou Waterfall Grand Hotel’s wireless coverage project aims to achieve full-scenario blind-spot-free coverage, including four major guest room sectors (Waterfall Guest Rooms, Yishan Pavilion Guest Rooms, Wangfeng Pavilion Guest Rooms, Ruyi Hall Guest Rooms), as well as public and functional areas such as staff dormitories, office areas, outdoor leisure zones, and food city banquet halls, to meet the dual network needs of tourists and hotel operations.

Core Challenges Analysis

1.Differentiated scene requirements: Scenes such as guest room areas, catering areas, office areas, and outdoor leisure zones have distinct functions, leading to significant differences in requirements for network bandwidth, terminal access capacity, coverage range, and stability;

2.Fluctuating network load: As a scenic area hotel, it faces dense and complex human traffic. Multiple applications such as video playback, file transfer, and conference communications run concurrently, which may easily cause bandwidth conflicts. It is necessary to ensure the priority and smoothness of core businesses;

3.Stringent roaming experience requirements: Tourists move frequently between guest rooms, catering areas, leisure zones, and outdoor areas. Seamless wireless network switching must be achieved to avoid disconnections, reconnections, or sudden speed drops;

4.Major responsibility for security protection: As a public service venue, it is necessary to establish a comprehensive network security protection system to prevent risks such as ARP spoofing, malicious attacks, and data leaks, and ensure the security of user information and network operations;

5.Demand for commercial value conversion: It is necessary to build marketing touchpoints based on the WiFi network to achieve user retention and commercial value addition, converting network infrastructure investment into sustainable commercial value;

6.Installation and expansion adaptability: The device layout must conform to the hotel’s decoration style and the scenic area’s environmental tone, with simplified installation and maintenance processes. It must also have flexible scalability to meet future passenger flow growth and functional upgrade needs.

COMFAST Hotel Wireless Coverage Solution

Core Deployment Strategy

1.Guest room area deployment: To address signal attenuation caused by dense room distribution and multiple wall obstacles, COMFAST 86-type in-wall panel APs (Model: CF-E535N) are adopted to achieve precise “one AP per room” coverage. Integrating Ethernet and telephone interfaces, the device simultaneously meets guests’ computer access and the hotel’s telephone deployment needs, ensuring high-speed stable WiFi while enhancing service convenience;

2.Office area and banquet hall deployment: The office area requires smooth daily communication, while the banquet hall faces high-density terminal access scenarios. Therefore, COMFAST Gigabit dual-band ceiling-mounted APs (Model: CF-E355AC V2) are selected. Supporting 1200Mbps wireless speed and over 120 concurrent terminal accesses, the device perfectly adapts to high-density access in open spaces with its high device capacity and fast transmission performance, ensuring stable and smooth network during meetings and banquets;

3.Staff dormitory deployment: Considering the scattered shifts and balanced network needs of hotel staff, COMFAST ceiling-mounted APs (Model: CF-E320N) are deployed in corridors. Through scientific coverage planning, uniform signal distribution in staff dormitories is ensured to meet employees’ internet needs during leisure time;

4.Outdoor leisure area deployment: To tackle complex outdoor environments and easy signal interference, COMFAST outdoor high-power APs (Model: CF-WA700) are chosen. With strong anti-interference capabilities and adaptability to harsh environments, the device adopts pole-mounted installation (height above 5 meters) and scientific layout with 50-100 meter intervals, achieving blind-spot-free coverage in outdoor leisure areas. This allows tourists to enjoy stable and smooth WiFi while appreciating the scenic views.

Core Advantages of the Solution

1.Ultimate full-scenario network experience: Adopting the “AC+AP” networking architecture, the solution precisely matches device types to different scenes — “one AP per room” in guest areas guarantees dedicated bandwidth, high-device-capacity APs in dense areas handle concurrent pressure, and scientific deployment in staff dormitories and outdoor areas balances coverage and cost. The scenario-based deployment ensures stable network speed and full signals across all areas, significantly improving user satisfaction and hotel service reputation;

2.Scientific deployment for cost reduction and efficiency improvement: Based on differentiated network needs across scenes, the solution adopts a targeted device configuration plan. While ensuring high-performance coverage in core areas, it optimizes equipment investment in non-core areas, achieving rational resource allocation and precise cost control;

3.Comprehensive security protection system: Equipped with COMFAST core gateway (Model: CF-AC400) and OrangeOS, the solution integrates multiple security functions including ARP defense, malicious attack interception, IP/MAC address binding, and access permission control. It builds an end-to-end security barrier from access authentication to data transmission, eliminating network security risks;

4.Seamless roaming and intelligent management: Supporting seamless wireless roaming technology, users only need one authentication for full-area access without repeated password entry, ensuring convenient and efficient operation. Meanwhile, the AC gateway enables centralized management of all APs, supporting zero-configuration access, batch parameter delivery, and real-time device status monitoring, greatly simplifying operation and maintenance processes;

5.Scenario marketing empowerment and value addition: Supporting multiple access methods such as Portal authentication, WeChat authentication, and SMS authentication, the solution can push advertising information (e.g., scenic area guides, hotel promotions, event previews) on the authentication page, realizing WeChat follower acquisition, member retention, and precise marketing. Through the full-link marketing closed loop of “connection – exposure – conversion”, it taps the commercial value of WiFi networks and helps the hotel build a more competitive business model;

6.Integration of aesthetics and practicality: Ceiling-mounted and in-wall panel APs feature a minimalist design, seamlessly integrating with the hotel’s decoration and the scenic area’s environment without damaging the overall beauty. The devices are easy to install and maintain, and the networking architecture has good scalability. AP quantities can be flexibly increased according to passenger flow growth to adapt to future business development needs.
