Router 101: The Three Features That Actually Matter

Buffering cartoons, dropped Zoom calls, zero bars on the balcony—nine times out of ten the culprit is the router. Before you blame your ISP, check whether your box delivers these three essentials.

1. Wi-Fi 6 – The Speed Engine

Wi-Fi 6 (802.11ax) is three times faster than Wi-Fi 5 and polite to crowded networks. Phones, tablets, doorbells, smart-TVs—dozens of gadgets can chatter at once without queue-jumping. If your router still speaks 802.11ac, an upgrade is the single biggest speed boost you can buy.

2. Mesh – Walls Are No Longer the Enemy

One router in the living room rarely reaches the upstairs office. Mesh kits link two or more nodes into a single, seamless network. Walk from bedroom to garden; your device hops to the strongest signal without a hiccup. No new SSIDs, no manual reconnects.

3. Gigabit Ports – Don’t Bottle-Neck Your Broadband

A 1 000 Mbps fibre plan is pointless if the WAN port tops out at 100 Mbps. Every port—WAN and all LANs—must be gigabit-rated if you want the speed you’re already paying for.

One Box That Checks Every Box

Comfast CF-WR630AX wraps all three features into one wallet-friendly unit:

– 3 Gbps dual-band Wi-Fi 6 for lag-free 4K streams and gaming

– One-touch Mesh—add a second unit and cover up to 500 m²

– Four full-gigabit ports ready for 100–1 000 Mbps fibre

– Four high-gain antennas punch through walls and floors

Upgrade once, stress less, enjoy buffer-free peace from the front door to the back garden.
